Privacy policy

Hoops & Grill ("we", "us") publishes articles at hoopssportsbarandgrill.com. We are based in Ontario, Canada, and we handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. It is written to be read, so it is short.
What we collect
- Notes you send us. When you use the contact form or email us, we receive your name, your email address, the topic and the message. We use them only to read and answer your note, and to fix the article if you pointed out a mistake.
- Server logs. Like every website, our server and our network provider record technical details of each request: the IP address, the page asked for, the time, the browser's user agent and the referring page. We use these logs to keep the site running and to block abuse such as automated attacks. They are kept for up to 30 days, then deleted.
We do not run advertising trackers, social media pixels or third-party analytics, we do not build reader profiles, and we do not sell, rent or trade personal information.
Cookies
Reading the site sets no cookies of ours. See the cookie policy for the details, including the security cookies our network provider may use.
Who else sees it
Our hosting provider and our network and security provider process requests on our behalf, under contracts that limit their use of the data to running the service. Some of these providers operate servers outside Canada, including in the United States, so your information may be processed there and be subject to the laws of that country. We would disclose information to authorities only when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Contact notes are kept for up to 24 months so we can follow a conversation or a correction, then deleted. Server logs are kept for up to 30 days. Backups of the site follow the same limits.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and you can withdraw your consent to us keeping a note you sent. Write to privacy@hoopssportsbarandgrill.com. We answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. Readers in US states with their own privacy laws (for example California) can use the same address to exercise the rights those laws give them; we do not sell or share personal information for advertising.
Children
The site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of the page. Material changes will be noted on this page for at least 30 days.
